And just like that 2018 has been and gone!
Anastasia and I hope that whatever you got up to over the Christmas/New Year break that you had an absolute ball and managed to spend some quality time with family and friends.
We were lucky enough to spend this period with my family in picturesque Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, which is where I lived during my early to late teenage years. The break was so good. I think our biggest decision each day was which beach we should go to.
This period also allowed us some time to properly sit back and reflect on Nicolas Alexander's first year.
And what a year it has been! Throughout the year, we experienced massive highs and some genuine lows, but most importantly, we learnt a hell of a lot, which we know will only help the brand moving forward.
Our debut SS18 Modern Nomad Collection, which we released out of our adopted "home" of Porto in Portugal has been unbelievably well received and for us that has been the most amazing thing.
To know that there are people all across the world now enjoying swimwear that we created and produced is literally the best feeling and our proudest achievement.
With that being said, to everyone that has bought a pair of our swim shorts, Anastasia and I just want to say thank you and hope that you continue to enjoy them.
2018 ended with us making the big decision to move back to Australia after nearly two and a half unbelievable years living in Europe. We have always been wanderers and we now look forward to continuing to grow the brand from Australia and hey, who knows where we might end up after this next chapter?
Looking forward. 2019 is promising to be an amazing year and we can't wait to continue on this journey with you all. The first announcement for the year is that we will be introducing a new style of swim short, which we are so excited to share with you guys in the near future, so watch this space!
One of our main goals for 2019 is for Nicolas Alexander to become involved with helping raise awareness and support a cause that we feel strongly about. The cause that we will be supporting is Men's Mental Health and our first step in this long-term goal has seen us team up with the brilliant Intangible Goods.
For those of you that do not know who/what Intangible Goods are, let me provide you with a quick overview.
Intangible Goods is a brilliantly original initiative by two Aussie artists by the name of Elizabeth and Mark. The objective is to essentially help normalise people’s daily mental health needs!
The concept sees them play on the world of junk food and vending machines, whereby they offer snack-sized products that feed your psyche, not your sweet tooth. From bags of 'Bravery' to bars of 'Belonging', each packet has been made with mental health professionals to momentarily satisfy a specific emotional need.
They are giving people tangible tools to feed their daily mental needs and explore tricky topics like depression, anxiety, stress and loneliness in a fun, snack-sized way.
We are excited to announce that everyone that purchases a Nicolas Alexander product between now and the end of the month will receive one of ten possible Intangible Goods products with their order.
For anyone that does receive one of these complementary tools, it is completely up to you to decide what you do with it. Maybe what you receive really strikes a chord and it is something that triggers a positive reaction or realisation or maybe you decide to pass it on to a friend or colleague that you feel will benefit from it more?
This is just the start of our commitment to raising awareness and supporting the topic of men’s mental health. We will be teaming up with other people, programs and/or organisations that are operating within this space who are all about bringing a positive change and raising awareness to this cause.
Anastasia and I wish you all an unforgettable adventure filled 2019!
