Ibiza is an island with an unquestionable transcendent appeal, which is why this dazzling hulk of Balearic rock continues to captivate devotees, old and new.
Whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned veteran of The White Isle, check out our ultimate guide to the best of the best for summer 2019.
Brought to you by the masterminds behind Cafe Mambo, Casa Maca is a rural hidden gem positioned in the secluded hills of Can Palauatop just outside Ibiza Town. Harnessing that elusive sweet spot between relaxation and proximity to fun times, this place doubles up as a nice little metaphor for the White Isle itself – on the one hand, serene; on the other, temptation lies in wait.
Still, you might find yourself keen to stay put for a few days because the vibe here is ultimate chill, the pool is incredible, and the restaurant serves up game-changing food. The views of Dalt Vila are impossible to ignore, so at some point be prepared to submit to the call of its cobbled streets and bars.
Bless Hotel Ibiza
Between the waves, situated in Es Canar's Cala Nova Cove, Bless Hotel entices guests with its prime beachfront location. The property is the second launch from the new luxury hotel brand from Palladium Hotel Group and is designed for the modern traveller in search of the best of living.
Rotate your time between the hotel’s two infinity pools, and when you can't stand the heat anymore you can always retreat to your room – which takes its design inspiration from Coco Chanel.
Come sundown head to the sky lounge for transcendent views of the Mediterranean coast, before dining at the property's signature restaurant by Martin Berasategui
Cubanito Ibiza Suites
Cuban style, modern comfort and the sparkling sunsets of San Antonio Bay is the willing formula created by Cubanito Ibiza Suites on Ibiza's west coast. Opening just last year, this adults-only hotel has had hearts aflutter with its cool Art Deco and Colonial style that transports you to ‘50s Cuba. A boogaloo soundtrack and Havana cigar menu add to this cleverly.
Guests can take advantage of the excellent rooftop bar, an all-you-need concierge service, whilst Latin DJs and salsa classes make this an indisputable gem of an escape.
Cosmopolitan living meets Mediterranean magic. For blow-out luxury, the 7 Pines Resort does really have it all. New last year, it's the last word in high-end luxury with excellent gastronomic offerings, swish bars, spa and wellness centre, instructor-led high-intensity training and exceptional concierge services.
The resort itself is set on a striking clifftop in Cala Codolar, with breathtaking views over the sparkling Mediterranean and across to Ibiza’s legendary limestone rock formation Es Vedra.
Surrounded by fragrant pine forests and abundant nature, Seven Pines Resort Ibiza is just minutes from some of the island’s best beaches and secret coves. Although, once you settle into its completely private and discreet way of life, it’s easy to imagine not leaving the complex for the duration of your stay.
On the south side of the island, close to the famous Es Vedra and Cala D'Hort arriving at Cala Carbo evokes an instant feeling of being on holiday. The small, secluded cove with its translucent water and pebbles is surrounded by pine trees and feels as though it is a private beach – although one and all are always welcome.
Take a good book and lounge on sunbeds plumped up with mattresses under rakish raffia parasols, then sit down to pans of mouthwatering paella and ice-cold rosé – there’s no rush here.
Searching for your own little slice of paradise? Kept relatively hush-hush thanks to its location close to the gated community of Roca Llisa, Cala Olivera is a serene cove with nothing but crystalline sea, clear skies, clean fresh air and rocky coast as far as the eye can see.
Finding your inner peace here is easy if, on your travels around Ibiza, you manage to find this true hidden gem of a beach! It’s like the pot of gold at the end of a Mediterranean rainbow.
As there are no facilities at Cala Olivera, we recommend packing a picnic and making a day of it!
As you drive over the crest leading down towards the exclusive Cala Jondal area, striking turquoise water sparkles beneath the horizon, surrounded by lush pine forests and rich, rocky red cliffs while huge grey pebbles form a long stretch of the beach, with a stretch of golden sand at the south end. This is one of the most stunning locations in Ibiza.
Cala Jondal is adored by the fashionistas and party people who drift through endless summers sailing around the Med and a large proportion of its visitors arrive by superyacht before being ferried to shore. Days then whizz past in a hedonistic haze of Champagne and sun – at least, that is, if you’re at famed beach club Blue Marlin.
A sheltered bay surrounded by rickety paths and pine forest; on hot days immersing yourself beneath the iridescent topaz water is the perfect hangover cure if you've indulged too much the night before... just peace, quiet and total relaxation.
This northern bay is only attainable by car and is found just off the road to Portinatx.
This beach, on the south side of Ibiza, is beloved by locals. It's a bit off the radar for tourists, so it's rarely crowded and always beautiful. This Instagram-worthy beach is flanked by two massive red cliffs, which block the breeze and give the sandy stretch a sense of seclusion—it almost feels like a private beach.
You'll also find some of the island's earliest ruins here, which date back to 654 BC and are marked with plaques. Nearby, Restaurante Sa Caleta serves an incredible paella and white sangria that can't be missed.
TO DRINK & EAT
Room 39 The Curiosity Shop
Fans of Pikes (they are numerous) need no excuse to sink a bevvy by its George Michael approved pool, but regardless, they’ve given you one anyway. This summer, it's in the form of Room 39 Curiosity Shop, a cocktail bar with a classic Pikes twist.
Owner Dawn Hindle has wandered across the globe collecting as many weird and wonderful objets d’art as she can find, while bar manager Tanja Mašić has been tasked with creating a cocktail inspired by said objects. The result is a space adorned with bewitching bits and bobs and a menu featuring drinks including the Crystal Dildo, Legless Indian and Captain of the Night. Don't leave until you have tried them all.
Los Otros Harbour
This is the second Ibiza establishment from cool-as-you-like Dutch couple, Mirjam Leslie Pringle and Nicolaas Homan. Los Otros Harbour leans on the charm and urban appeal of its sister venue in San Juan and delivers it to the Santa Eulalia marina.
The offering is similar – lots of delicious, plant-based food, fresh juices and cocktails. Stop by for a coffee on the terrace and listen to the seawater lapping gently against the harbour and the boat sails flapping in the breeze.
With a bar run by one of the best mixologists on the island, Inhalar is the locals’ new go-to for seriously good cocktails, fresh juices and lots of other stuff in between.
Located in the heart of Ibiza’s iconic port area, just a short walk from the busy harbour, the approach at Inhalar is very much “detox to retox”. So recover from the night before with a juice, a plate of sushi and a dose at the Oxygen Bar, then start the cycle all over again with a cocktail, live DJ and a visit to the Vape shop upstairs.
Passion Cafe San Antonio
The idea to open a Passion Café outpost in San Antonio had been on founder Lana Love’s mind for many years; more than a decade in fact. With a prime location on the seafront promenade, the shaded terrace is the ultimate spot for people watching, coffee drinking and cooling off with a cold-pressed juice.
There’s a deli-style menu so you can choose your weapon and take it with you to the beach, but it’s well worth sticking around for breakfast – featuring smoothie bowls, avocado toast and pancakes, the eponymous Passion breakfast is one of the best on the island.
Great food? Check. Good vibes? Check. Amazing views? Check. The ultimate Ibiza Instagram moment? Checkmate.
Maison Le Vrai
Since it was pedestrianised in 2017, Vara de Rey – Ibiza’s main town square – has witnessed a spate of cosmopolitan venues pop up on its doorstep. Maison Le Vrai is the latest, much to the delight of islanders, who’ve been raving about its quintessential croque monsieurs and whipped-cream-filled muffins with fresh raspberries.
This ultra chic French-inspired restaurant has got the perfect vibe for a Friday or Saturday night, serving delicious Mediterranean/French gourmet food.
Another cracker from the couple behind Cotton Beach Club, Alma Sushi elevates the island’s sushi levels to untouched new heights. Thanks to head chef Daniel Moranda – a genuine itamae who’s spent years perfecting his craft with the world’s best sushi experts – this restaurant is the kind of culinary experience that leaves you speechless, stuffed and seduced all at once.
Located in Figueretas with killer sea views, take a seat, have some sake, and marvel at some Japanese-inspired splendour.
The evolution of the innovative La Gaia restaurant at the island’s only ‘Five-Star Grand Luxe’ rated resort, Ibiza Gran Hotel, has seen it grow into a sleek gastronomic hotspot.
Head chef Óscar Molina has based the new La Gaia menu on the unique style of ‘Nikkei cooking’ – a special blend of characteristic flavours and ingredients from Peru and Japan, adding his own creative twists inspired by the current culinary trends. Each of the personally selected chefs in his kitchen specialises in Peruvian or Japanese cooking to ensure authenticity, quality and originality.
The sophisticated dining space also boasts an exclusive ‘Gin & Vodka Club’ with an extensive menu of creative signature cocktails and exceptional wine list, surrounded by an edgy exhibition capturing the 1970s Ibiza hippy spirit by Mallorca-based Danish artist Katrin Kirk.
Bambuddha is like nothing you have experienced before or will experience again. The restaurant-cum-sex-shop consists of a cluster of wooden huts with bamboo shoots spurting between a selection of Buddhas – an ensemble making for a relaxed and mischievous environment.
The food and cocktails are as carefully created as the space that houses them; mixing Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, it is hard to go wrong on the food front. The restaurant's conscious ethos means 90-per cent of the vegetables used are grown on the island, while the very best organic meat and sustainably farmed fish make up many mouthwatering options.
Although it will set you back a good few euros, any trip to the island would not be complete without time dedicated to this self-contained heaven. Booking is a MUST!

If you are disciplined enough to get yourself to a few sessions at Isla Blanca during your holiday, you will definitely be able to indulge with a clear conscious.
€20 per session.
Capadi RebelsLand at Benimussa Park
Open-air, daytime partying is now considered the island’s “thing” but shun the big Playa d’en Bossa crowds in favour of a more authentic experience and you won't regret it.
Capadi RebelsLand is every Tuesday and you should make a beeline for it, not only because the line-up is a minimal lover’s dream but also because this place attracts a modest crew, keen to dance alongside you rather than elbow you out of the way.
Wax da Jam at Las Dalias
A party that reminds you that the true Ibiza spirit is alive and well, Wax da Jam is a favourite among islanders who come to have a chit-chat, scoff street food and listen to the sweet, soulful beats of Nightmares on Wax.
This summer they’re performing live on two exclusive dates, with five euros from every ticket being donated to the Last Night a DJ Saved My Life charity foundation. Plastic straws have also been officially shown the door, proving that this party is good for your soul, your groove and the planet.
After their crossover sound exploded in popularity last summer, tech-house overlords CamelPhat & Solardo team up with Aussie man-of-the-moment Fisher to front a new residency, BODYWORKS.
